Pumpkin for my puppy with diarrhea?

    Yes, I thought the vet would put her on an IV but we were told to use ice cubes. She wasn't dehydrated then.

    So pleased she's okay now. Sorry about the humans tho!!!

    I just remembered my mother's medicine for a runny tummy: grated apple and boiled carrots! Much like pumpkin. This is what we got as children and she still advises it today. My dad was a doctor but left the home medicine to my mom. His mantra was: the best medicine is the one that works.

    The grated apple makes sense - lots of pectin, an ingredient in Prokolin. And boiled carrots - roughage (insoluble fiber) is broken down from cooking but still contains soluble fiber.

    No worries about the research - I love doing research and this is a topic that interests me. It was part of my studies many years ago at university so it's good to get the old brain ticking over!!
