We feed him 3 meals at 7am, 2am and 6pm decreasing the volume

Yes, how old is he? My boy needed out twice a night till he was about 3.5 months old and then only once a night till about 4.5 months old, to poop and pee. My girl before him slept through the night. They are just different and when young have no control and you just have to watch and get them out when needed.

    Hi Alaine,

Welcome to the Forum...the fact you memtion 3 meals makes me think you still have a puppy/young dog ? If that is the case I would bring the 2pm and 6 pm meals forward by at least an hour to give him a chance to digest and do a decent toilet before bed and then get up at least once in the night to give him a chance to go again during the night x

    I have the opposite advice!

Feed later and the poo will be a morning poo. We feed Mollie's last meal at 8pm.

For daytime poos vigilance is the only answer Catch them circling and take them out. If you have to leave them for a short time use a crate.

I have a 13 week old pup. I feed her when she gets up which is around 7:30 am, give her a treat around 12pm, feed another meal around 3pm, and hold off her last meal until 9pm and stop giving water around 10pm as she goes to bed the same time as me around 12am. She rarely wakes me up in the middle of the night and has never had a poop accident in the house. I can physically see when she needs to poop and hurry to run her outside!
