Hi, I am new to this website but am enjoying reading all the posts and knowing that you are all here to give support to each other. I have a 12 week old black Labrador called Buddy, the last time we weighted him he was 10kg, looking on the back of his food packet ( we feed him Skinner's) it says for his weight he should be having 400g for each meal, but according to the Labrador website he should be having 300g for each meal. I am so confused, which one do I follow, I don't want to over feed him but I also recognise that he is growing so quickly, I don't want him to not receive all the right nutrients he needs to help him grow. Please can anyone give me some advice?

You should normally follow the instructions on the packet. Each food brand requires different amounts. There is a feeding guide on the skinners website. http://www.skinnerspetfoods.co.uk/feeding-guide/ You pick if it's a pet or working dog, then the adult weight of what your dog will end up as (it's obviously an estimate but helpful if you know weight of parents), then age of your dog now.

    You get something like this

Hello and welcome to the forum! As said, it varies a lot depending on the different feeds. But, it also depends on the individual dog. Most Labradors tend to need far less food than is stated on the packets, but the best thing to do is pick an amount (say, the amount it states on the packet, or that minus 25%) and see how he's doing after a week. If he's getting podgy, reduce the amount. If he's looking skinny, add a little more. There is no "one size fits all" amount. Good luck!
