Oh no! Middle age setting in? Just noticed that the hairs on the SBD's chin are going grey!

    She doesn't seem to mind.

    :)

Ah SBD ,she will still be as beautiful as ever....Dexter has a greyish tinge around his chin but it's better disguised on the yellows...is she 6 now David?

Lots of black labs are pretty grey by 7... Poppy has a slightly grey chin too, but blondes can hide the grey more easily... ;)

Perhaps I'd better get her an appointment to get her grey hairs dyed black.

    :p

EArly greying can be a genetic factor that runs in families and not be an indicator of aging. It runs in my human family. One reason I think people always thought Jet was younger than she was, besides her slight build and ease of movement, was she got only a few grey hairs very late and they were on the underside of her chin where they were not easily seen.

Charlie started getting grey hairs at around 3 years old, he has quite a grey muzzle now and looking quite distinguished :). Hattie is still looking gorgeous but I think that's just her type of curly fur :) x

As others have said it can be an inherited thing. My old boy BJ, a black lab (pedigree, KC registered) had a thin white flash on his chest. He developed a 'grey' chin aged about 2 and various grey points from then on.
He was one of 13 pups from a black sire and yellow dam. They were all black but 4 of them had this thin white flash. Reading about colour genetics is fascinating.

SBD is an adorable girl despite grey hairs or anything else, I've no doubt :)

Just showing the grey muzzle hairs to my son-in-law while he was playing with Lady and he spotted quite a large soft swelling under one of her armpits. It doesn't seem to be painful but I'll be making an appointment with the vet first thing in the morning. Here's hoping it's just a lump. :(

Oh no, what a worry! Hope for the best from the vet tomorrow. Soft is good, right?

Hopefully just a fatty deposit. It's not inflamed or anything like that.

Could be a lymph gland, she may be fighting off and infection, or just a fatty lump. You will be relieved to see vet tomorrow to put your mind at rest.

Yes I'm trying to be not too worried at this stage as I think it's probably not anything serious. Can't ignore it though for obvious reasons.

Ladies like to hide grey hair so don't point it out yo her too much....she may get a complex ;)

I hope the lump isn't anything serious. Will be thinking if you tomorrow

If I can figure out how to post it, and I can get her to keep still, I'll photograph them and post it up. :D
