I'm made up I've found this website. After much yearning I'm finally going to be the owner of a black lab puppy called Ruby!

When we went to view her there were three pups available out of ten. Without even knowing if she was available or not I was just drawn to her and stroked and played with her. The lady then told me she was available and pointed out the other two available. To be honest though they didn't want to know me and I wasnt drawn to them like I was her. How sad do I sound haha! We went to view her as well yesterday and she has gotten a lot bigger, she even gave me a kiss and snuggled me when I picked her up. She was just so placid and calm compared to the other litter mates although I'm sure that won't last long! Will make another post from my phone in a moment as this touch screen is really annoying me!

Hi! Welcome to you and Ruby.
I sounds like you have found a perfect puppy :)
I missed out on the picking a pup process and didn't meet Lilly until she was around 11 weeks (although I saw a photo)
    Lucky you.
And lucky us - another new puppy!

Jac and Lilly - 3 year old black girl ;)

Hello from me and Charlie. Welcome, pics when you can manage them please :).

One morning, OH agreed we could have a puppy. Worried he would change his mind, by lunchtime I had an appointment to see a choc boy from a litter where a buyer had pulled out and handed over my deposit there and then! No choice to be made. Good job Charlie turned out to be perfect and the breeder super! I think I'd have taken him if he'd two heads I was so desperate for a labrador!

Thank you everyone I finally worked out how to attach a photo! The first one is her at 3 weeks when we picked Her and the other two at 5 weeks two weeks ago! I can't believe how fast it has come about we pick her up on saturday :D all I need to get is her food, and wait for her kong to come from amazon through the week!

There's one slight catch now! I currently don't work but my former manager called me up last night with a job offer. Its only temp for 12 months but its 24 hours a week. Now when I picked Ruby there was no jobs about so now I'm feeling guilty although the extra income will do us all the world of good! I need to go in through the week to discuss the hours and days etc so we shall see but obviously I'm going to have to start getting her used to some alone time from the get go. Perhaps her placid and quiet nature will come in handy for this!

Anyone else got a pup whilst working part time?

How exciting! can't see the photo yet though.

I got my new puppy during the busiest working time for me! We managed, although he wasn't left alone for the first ten days, and I put in a lot of time getting him settled and used to being on his own, gradually building up the time.

Then we managed with the help of a puppy sitter, one of us leaving late and getting back early, and my Dad helped out, plus we were lucky enough that we could do a bit of working from home. When he got a bit older, he went to a very quiet daycare when we needed to have him looked after the whole day, with just two other puppies, and sometimes the puppy sitter would just take him with her on her rounds.

We managed fine, and now he is 7 months, it's much, much easier.

I bet you are so excited about picking her up. We picked Harley up just over a week ago and I am loving having her. She is 8 weeks old.
I too work part-time, but last week I only worked 12 hours. I left her for a max of 2 hours at a time and my neighbour popped over regularly. I did feel guilty every time I left, but it doesn't seem to bother her. I am lucky as I work very locally and am out and about a lot so can pop in on a regular basis. When she is a bit older I will occasionally take her to work with me :). Try not to leave her for too long, especially in the first few weeks. Can a family member or a neighbour pop in to check on her?
    Good luck. :)

Welcome from me and Obi! :)

I'm sure you can find a way to make the part time job fit with a puppy. Can you delay starting for a few weeks?
