Our Molly is utterly adorable and a joy in so many ways. However - yes there is a however - she is a determined poo eater. I've tried everything and yet the tastiest bits of juicy chicken, sizzly sausage, crunchy lamb skin, even more crunchy pork crackling does not have enough appeal to draw her away from a nice ripe stenchy poo from another dog's posterior Unfortunately, she is also a very keen cuddly kisser Guess we'll just have to decline the cuddly stuff and try to encourage Molls to greet us with a polite wag, all 4 feet grounded and nose and tongue firmly contained in her pungent mouth ! Don't you just love these pups of ours?
Willow was a determined poo eater, too. Although, I'm glad to say, she never showed any interest in dog poo. She's grown out of most of it, and doesn't bother with cow, horse, sheep, goat, rabbit or goose anymore, for the most part at least. Human is another matter. Ugh.
Human Oh hells bells. Molly doesn't get that chance but no doubt she'd be right in there if she could. I wouldn't mind cow, horse, sheep, or any other vegetation eater, its the meat eaters poo that is SO awful, but that's her favourite
I am glad Vanilla does not eat any (yet), but if we see any on a walk and she sniffs it, I make a 'yuk' noise and she then looks at me and gets a treat. But she is on a lead and if we are off lead, we go to either beach or an oval. One that I am struggling with is the human poo. Where do they exist? Not that I want to find any, but seriously have people no concept of holding it
Stanley loves rabbit poo, sheep poo, cow poo and horse poo. Luckily he seems to avoid cat and dog poo. And even more luckily we haven't come across any human poo
Mabel has almost grown out of the cow pat, goose poo eating luckily never bothering with any kind of other poo until New Year's Day. OH shouted don't go that way human poo. I laughed how ridiculous it can't be. It was, Mabel took a bite, I was literally almost sick . I gave her a carrot when we got home, and some kibble in water to wash her mouth out, if nothing else made me feel better.
My husband calls them "breath carrots" - like breath mints! Snowie gets one always after eating dirty tripe. And also after human poo... Homeless people in my area use the beach or mountain trails. And even our quiet street!! It is revolting. I am told by others their dogs love it, too.
It is a firm favorite with Moo. Now she's old she can't roll in it though. I just bless old age and count my blessing at least it's only on the inside now
Oban is not much inclined that way but Jet was. She left the cat litter in our house but the strays and ferals outside, she went for their leavings. And IMO human poop is the worst. Jet was not tied up on canoe trips because we were afraid of losing her. She was tied up at campsites because every one had human poop all around. Portages were bad as well, and hiking trails. I almost liked when she rolled in horse poop, by comparison, or ate it. At least it smells good and I'm not likely to get some dreaded disease from it.
Absolutely. I think it's even worse when you know the human that it came from. Never looking them in the eye again
Xena's crazy for cat poo. All my off-lead trails are in suburban areas so it's unavoidable. I try to spot it first, but they're usually nestled in long grass so unless I quickly spot the frantic snuffling and can pull her off she gets her reward. It drives me mad, but I'm starting to wonder whether this is a battle worth fighting. Is the odd bit of cat poo really the end of the world? I think she's had the odd human poo but I'm not 100% sure. Fortunately I don't think it's much of an issue on my suburban tracks.
Coco is mad for cat poo too. He spots in long verges or under hedges and is SO quick to grab a sausage. Gross!
When younger Bailey loved fox poo - both rolling in and eating, but for the past few months he hasn't done either. He still snaffles the odd nugget of rabbit poo but that's better than fox!
Omg my Bella is ALWAYS sniffing around our cat's litter box looking for a "treat" It drives me madd!! Especially when she comes for kisses afterwards....
My vet called me by telling me it is normal for dogs to eat faeces, and just to keep her wormed every three months. I don't know if it was coincidence, but when we switched Poppy to a raw diet, she immediately stopped eating dog poo.
