Hello everyone, Well, we had Jenny spayed, everything was going smoothly with her recuperation. Took her to vet two weeks after spaying to have stitches removed, incision looked great, but we still needed to watch her for two more weeks. Vet removed cone. Well, after one week, mind you, we were watching her 24/7, someone rang the doorbell, Jenny went nuts and scaled the doorway gate so fast, we didn't even have time to grab her and she scraped her incision on the top of the gate. We looked at it and it seemed okay. Next day it was oozing. Called vet and took her in immediately. Sure enough, she managed to get an infection in the incision. She was also on sedatives when she jumped the gate. Vet took smear of incision to find out what kind of bacteria on it, cone back on for two weeks and to apply Neosporin on the incision. Vet also increased the sedatives we give her every 12 hours to keep her calm and she is on an antibiotic which vet will call me about in a day or two if she needs to switch to another. I am just thankful she did not do more damage, like rip open the internal stitches which vet said has happened to other puppies in same situation being high strung. I feel so bad for her having to deal with the cone again but necessary. The increase in sedatives really make her sleepy and slowed her down a lot, which she also needed for healing. All in all, everything should be okay.
