Zero attention given when jumping up. Have him in a harness and lead and step on the lead close to his body, so that he can't jump. Lots of praise and attention given when "all four on the floor" when someone is greeting him.

Some believe in 100% force-free training, but I do say, "Off," when they jump up, and kind of push them back/away.

When people come to our house, I taught Bessie "go get your baby" - she grabs a soft toy to bring to the visitor. This gives her a "job" and a way to interact with them. It seems to help a good bit.

Also, time. B's almost 8 months and finally in the last month some of this seems to be clicking. She was a terrible jumper and worse, really good at bopping people in the nose or eye, hard, with her snout.

I taught this too and it really does help. Harley runs to get her ball or her favourite teddy.
It's more difficult to manage when off lead in a park. I used to ask people to turn their backs and ignore her until all 4 paws were on the floor if I was unable to get to her first. Some people will say they don't mind and that used to annoy me, but I would explain that she would grow a lot more and could injure someone as she gets older. If possible I would try and get her on lead and stand on the lead so she couldn't jump up.
