My Lab is 14 months old and just recently i have noticed that he is eating a lot of grass.
Is this normal? i have heard that it lines their stomach, not sure if this is true though.
Another point i would like to make is, last November he had the snip, and i am now reaping
the reward for it, I was really struggling with his general behaviour, nightmare on recall, very
boisterous in the house, jumping up and being a pain! The op has really helped with his temperament,
he is so much calmer now, with a good recall skills, i was very sceptical at the time but i would now
recommend it, unless of course you want to use him as a stud dog.

It might not be the op that has made him calm & easier to handle, it is more likely his maturity and your training. Coco was already neutered when we got him nearly a year and a half ago - he'd been done a couple of months earlier, but he was still a total loon. He has become easier in the last 4 or 5 months, much more so in the last few weeks. I am beginning to accept that my training is paying off.

Coco is also a grass eater, at least he was last summer. Stringy poo ! Maybe the winter grass is not so palatable for him.

It is probably a combination of both as i admit i used to get him over excited, he is still a nut case but a nice nutcase.
    Regards to Coco.

Ripple eats grass a lot of the time, mostly it doesn't bother me but sometimes when I want to do some training or play games in the garden all he is intent on doing is ripping up and eating great big mouthfuls.

Having read the article linked above I know I probably shouldn't be worried but sometimes it does look like an obsessive thing as he rushes round ripping up the grass. And that's without all the damage to the garden .

Thanks for all of your help on the grass eating dog!
Bailey is my second Lab and i think they are the most faithful, loving, funny breed going, would never choose any other.
