Congratulations on your new puppy! What's his name?

Though my puppy is only 16 weeks now, I've noticed he pretty reliably starts sniffing around, walking in little circles, and is very focused on the floor... unfortunately, that's only about 20 seconds of warning, if not less.

Have you had a read through the articles on The Labrador Site? It covers pretty much any topic about raising and living with a labrador, and has been a life saver for me, especially in the early days.

Here's are two articles on potty training, though there are quite a few more if you have a look around the site.

Also, I am very inexperienced, so I am sure other members of the forum will have far more useful advice for you. Good luck!

Does your pup stop biting you? Haha. There are times that when I want to put ON/OFF the lease or the collar he will went to my hands/fingers/ankle/foot. Or when I want to pet him.

I worked really really hard on bite inhibition from day one, because my sister is 7 years old and I wanted to keep her safe. I'm the only one with battle scars!

I'd actually allow Stampy to bite my hand (he was already quite soft, thanks to his mum and siblings). If he ever bit hard enough for it to hurt, I'd go "ah ah!", take my hand away, and stop giving him attention immediately. This would be a part of every interaction with him.

Each week, I would have a more strict limit, so he would need to be softer and softer, otherwise I would take my hand away. After just a month of this, I could hardly feel his bites at all, so I decided any attempt to bite means no more play. Now after having him for two months, he only licks my hand, touches his nose to my hand, or puts his chin in my hand, and bites only happen ifI've overexcited him or given him treats at a funny angle (all my fault, not his).

You can work on that to stop the bites hurting. To easily put a leash on, I taught him to "look at me" (he must make eye contact) and increased how long he had to look at me before treats. After ONE session, I had him looking at me for 20+ seconds, which was enough time to slip on a leash before he even knew what I was doing. Labradors have amazing focus!

Try looking up "Zak George look at me" on youtube, I use his videos to teach Stampy many tricks including "look at me". He uses easy, positive reinforcement so I really like him!

Gonna try your method to him. He is sleeping with me in my room now. Gonna check that on youtube later. Thank you so much!
