Yesterday, our pup Macy (10 weeks) fell off our rock wall (about 3 ft) but seemed no worse for the wear and was happy the rest of the day. I came home from work and took for normal walk of 15-20 minutes and she was fine. Last night, after chewing on some bones and resting she held her front leg out funny and didn't want to put any weight on it. I put her in her crate as it was almost bedtime and she seems fine today. I wouldn't be too worried, but my wife said she was also limping on a front leg after taking a nap the other day.

Any ideas if this could just be growing pains? Or anything to be worried about at her young age?

I would definitely take her to a Vet , puppy limbs are fragile at this age and, if left unchecked, could cause many problems , to say nothing of pain she could well be feeling . Take her to be examined , and then hopefully you can relax , and good luck

I echo a vet visit. I wouldn't risk leaving it just incase. But heir bones are so fragile at that age

Definitely worth visiting the vet - and let us know how she is.

I vote vet too. Pups are like children, they have blue lips just shy of hypothermia but want to keep swimming in the cold water... trust your instincts.

She hasn't shown any indications of further limp since that happened, however, I do have a visit to the vet this week and will discuss and have her checked out. I've temporarily cut back on her exercise some until then. Thanks for the input everyone!

I hope all will be okay. Pups can really make our hearts stop when they leap or fall from heights.

The general advice for a limp is restricted exercise for two weeks even if the limp has gone cos it can come right back. So that means no racing around and only slow leash walks.

My pup limped on his front limbs when he was in his first year and we spent many weeks doing slow leash walks. There's a post here - I think it's pinned - for ideas for how to keep a pup busy on restricted exercise.
