In the past 15 minutes I have had to "bribe" Simba for the following items: Kleenex purloined from garbage can Flip flop Tea strainer from kitchen counter My son's wallet Daughter's sock And I deflected him from my knitting, books on bookshelf, items on desk in computer room.... Aaarrgghhh....!!!!! Just in case you're wondering...he's had two walks today plus some training (sit, stay, find it), a few vigorous tug games with Mark, and I gave him a "new" Nylabone (well an old one he hadn't seen for awhile) when we came home from our walk to try to forestall "the prowl" (thanks to Angela for the term, it fits perfectly!!!) Seriously.Driving.Me.Crazy.
Re: I'm going crazy.... Crate time? These Labradors and their desire to purloin....does drive you batty... My sympathies!!
Re: I'm going crazy.... Oh Simba, you have been busy!they get the devil in them sometimes....rachael's suggestion carries some serious weight I think! It must be nearly bed time for you there?phew!tomorrow is another day! Hope you get some quiet down time....Bet Simbas prowl has got your knitting speed up....trying to finish before he nicks it!i love your word purloin too!! ;D
Re: I'm going crazy.... Tug games, Lisa? What are the rules of the game? Will he release the instant you give the release command? If he doesn't then this might be making your problem of taking things off him even worse. Or maybe he thinks the game is not over yet and he is finding interesting things you might like to tug on.
Re: I'm going crazy.... Yes, I know what you mean about the tug games, Heidrun. It's possible he's looking for more when he's going for the "forbidden fruit" but what I really think he wants is for me to chase him around. Which I refuse to do. He'll hold the item in his mouth firmly and not let go but he's not pulling back if I try to take it out if his mouth.
