When I was cooking dinner on Sunday, Stanley stole the string from my joint of beef and ate it :mad:I rang the vet and they said as long as he was acting normally and wasn't sick to not take him in and it should pass normally.

I've been watching him like a hawk since and OH has just text me to say he's just thrown up the string. The vet didn't mention him throwing up the string.. but that means he's probably OK doesn't it?

Little devil always has me worried for one reason or another

Kelsey will be jealous when she reads this - it took Axel 5 weeks to throw up his string!

Well, its out , even though it wasn't from the expected end ! Sam threw up a piece of tennis ball some years ago , I knew he had eaten it and, like you, was waiting for a rear exit, but he decided otherwise ! I think you can stop worrying now as it obviously stayed in his tummy rather than descending lower !

    Thanks! Hopefully he's ok!

Little devil. I was so busy guarding the beef I forgot the string.

He still got a full dinner (including Yorkshire puds) ofcourse :)

I wouldn't worry as long as he seems bright and as active as normal - better out than in :)

Very jealous! Yes, all is well now that it's come up. The waiting game is the worst, and sitting there watching their every move wondering if it's a sign to bring them to the vet

String made from natural fibres might well have digested and you'd never see it.

Just a caution for all, you should never pull anything out of the butt. Unless you are sure what it is and how long it is. Otherwise there's no telling how far back it goes and what it might be wrapped around.

Dogs are good at throwing up stuff that shouldn't go down in the first place. The vet told me I should not worry if all other signs are good. He specifically mentioned raw fish heads, that the bones "tickle" (I guess irritate) the gut and they usually get thrown up. I can usually see when Snowie wants to vomit cos then he eats our lemongrass bush - very tickly leaves!

I'm glad Stanley is okay and you can stop worrying!

    I hope he's ok!

Mine threw up half a wooden kebab skewer and the vet just said to keep an eye on him... in case the other half was still in there somewhere. That was a year or so ago, and so far no sign of the rest of it...
