Hi! I have a 6 month old male and he has gotten into the nasty habit of waking up at 4:20-4:40am! Most of the week out alarm clock goes off between 5-5:30. Basically he will start whimpering and if we don't get up that turns into barking. So I get up let him outside then put him right back in his kennel. He seems to readily go in, then stays calm until the alarm goes off.

The time change is on Sunday so I want to figure a way out how to re train him to now cry!

Help! It also doesn't help that in the early morning our cat starts whining for her food.

Have you tried feeding him later? This worked for Miss Mollie, who is five months old.

We now feed her at 7:45 in the evening and she wakes at 7am. We don't give her breakfast straight away or she'd wake up hoping to be fed.

OK so, When I wake up early (5:00) I typically feed him then go to the gym and come home around 6:30AM. Should I start feeding him when I get back from the gym??

    I would.

I keep breakfast time to 7:30am whatever time we get up.

But is he alone while you go to the gym? Alone and hungry wouldn't be a good combination.

I wake Harley up between 4.30am and 5.30am and encourage her sleepy bum outside. But she runs back inside because that means that she comes on the bed until the alarm goes off:) So Harley would be writing this thread about me:) lol

My fiancé gets up shortly after me so if he was alone in his kennel it would be minimal!
