I've been bothered by mice recently....four of them rattling about between my flat, and the one above. Between us the human occuapnts managed to dispose of two, but guess who has caught the other 2...none other than Cuillin! admitedly the first one was wounded where my friend had chased it with a broom, but last night she suddenly shot off the sofa and moved at the speed of light towards the corner of the room and POUNCED. Saw her standing looking a bit surprised with a mouse in her mouth...she was suprisingly happy to Leave It when told, it wasn't doing to well so she hadn't exactly been soft mouthed with it, but good girl! who needs a cat
Re: Mousehunter Tarka caught a live mouse that the cats brought in recently. It was completely unharmed by either species and the look on her face as her cheeks and lips moved/bulged as the mouse moved around in her mouth was absolutely priceless.......she'll need lessons from Cousin Cuillin on mouse despatching I think..

Re: Mousehunter Yes, proud owner of a mouse dispatcher here, too! But she swallows them before I can rescue their corpses, unless I am very quick and can grab the tail before it disappears down her throat. But since I feed her raw, I no longer worry too much - I just make sure she is wormed on a regular basis...

Re: Mousehunter Hi Lynne - my worst was when one of the cats brought home a live weasel and dumped it in the dining room.....the fleas that came off that thing had to be seen to be believed.....a tricky creature to catch as well!

Re: Mousehunter The cat as usual gave his signature meow to let us know a gift had been presented then stalked off with no interest in the situation at all leaving me to hurtle round finding a bucket, piece of cardboard etc for weasel capturing. Usual situation - dogs have owners, cats have staff....
Re: Mousehunter Charlie got into my daughter's guinea pig run, picked one up and held it VERY GENTLY in his mouth, David said 'Drop it' which he promptly did, not a mark on the piggie and it seemed fine but a couple of minutes later it died probably a heart attack. Low and behold the following week he did the same to the remaining piggie and exactly the same thing happened. They were very old so I am not surprised they didn't survive huge black dog holding them in his big slobbery mouth even though it was extremely gently Grace was furious and didn't speak to Charlie for days - ooops Charlie :-[ Very funny hunting stories, especially yours Lochan ;D Helen x
Re: Mousehunter Oh no! How dreadful, poor Grace in particular - how old was she? A friend of mine who's guinea pig died of natural causes had to have a reburial (under a BIG stone) courtesy of their miniature schnauzer pup
Re: Mousehunter Oh not that dreadful Jac he didn't harm them , natural causes due to big black dog!. We had only just got Charlie, so almost 2 years ago and she was about 16 years old. Thankfully no reburials here and there are numerous pets buried in our garden, infact 4 childrens worth of blinking pets , anything from cats to chickens, it's like 'Pet Cemetery' here. Helen x
