If you can look up the EBV, you'll see it has an impact on that. Yes, it probably increases the likelihood of any offspring of "your" sire having dysplastic elbows, so the EBV will be lower. But, you do have to take EBV for what it is: it works with the information available. You could compare this dog to an identical one who you have no history for, and, because there's no history, the other dog will have a better EBV.
Saba had his x-rays done yesterday, so now I'm waiting for the results. He was very funny as the anaesthetic wore off - quite the space cadet! Today, he's completely back to normal, and enjoyed a nice long walk this morning. I'm still recovering from the cost of this exercise; I wasn't in possession of all the facts, so there was a major 'OUCH' when I settled the bill!
The scores are now on the doors! Saba has 0 for both elbows, and his hips are 3 right and 4 left, so an overall of 7. I'm happy with that, although if I'm honest, I was hoping for a lower score. Dad has a brilliant 0 all round, and Mum a very respectable 2. No worries, as Saba is fit, well, and happy. Sadly, the bank account took a big hit when a thieving toerag cloned my card!
