I had to cut this mornings walk short because a certain Small Black Dog rolled in fox pooh to the extent it was just too disgusting to go on. I was so cross with her at the time and walked her smartly back and gave her a good shampooing to get it all off. Well she's been following me around like she's stuck with glue ever since. In the end I let her on my knee and gave her a cuddle and like turning a switch she's back to normal. Clearly the telling off in the field stuck with her and she needed to know all was well when we got home. I wouldn't have credited a dog with that much thought capability to be honest. She'd obviously taken it all on board big time. :'(
Re: They seem to be just like little children sometimes She needed to know you still love her, despite the fox poo!
Re: They seem to be just like little children sometimes It is truly disgusting stuff - had to shampoo Charlie 3 times last week. Must see if there is a product to get it off a bit easier.
Re: They seem to be just like little children sometimes I use "Fox Pooh" shampoo. Seems to work well and get the smell out too. I find a wipe down with a damp sponge in the direction of the coat first then apply the shampoo seems to work best.
Re: They seem to be just like little children sometimes disgusting smell.......i shampoo, then use groomers puppy fresh, gentle deodoriser, expensive but smells lovely
Re: They seem to be just like little children sometimes Sam has yet to discover the delights, unlike a small ragbag terrier who also enjoys the fragrance : I know what you mean though David, they do so hate being in disgrace , just want to be loved
Re: They seem to be just like little children sometimes Yes - and she's very sensitive as well so it makes her even more clinging sometimes, (except when she's getting behind me!). ;D
Re: They seem to be just like little children sometimes They're harder than kids in some ways as at least you can explain to your child not to roll in fox poo anymore and why. Dogs just don't seem to understand my lengthy diatribes in quite the same way!
Re: They seem to be just like little children sometimes I read about these fox poo forays and don't think much about it as we don't have them here.....but it actually sounds awful?is it really sticky is that why it's so hard to get out or is it the stink that is hard to get rid of.Dexter doesn't roll in anything ,there isn't much to roll in though...thank goodness ! X
Re: They seem to be just like little children sometimes The smell - it's so strong it's hard to believe. If it's fresh it's pretty sticky too. I had to scrub Charlie's collar in Jeyes fluid to get rid of the smell.
Re: They seem to be just like little children sometimes The smell Angela. ....oh god....the smell.... :-\
