Hello everyone, Just stopping by to say hello. I've recently adopted Greg, a 10 year old, retired Guide Dog for the Blind. I've owned dogs before but never a labrador so would welcome any advice to make his life happy.
Hello June and Greg, and welcome to the forum! Labs are generally pretty happy dogs, just some nice walks, your company, good food and maybe a bit of retrieving will keep him happy!
Hi June and welcome to the forum from me and my three, one of each colour. We have @Boogie on here, who is a puppy walker for Guide Dogs. I'd say he probably needs to be given the odd job to do to keep his mind active. Does the Association give you any guidance?
Just a hello from me & my Yellow Lab Rolo. 7 months. No advice but what a great thing to do giving him a happy life at 10 years old after doing a fantastic job as a service dog
Welcome to you from Mags, Tatze and Mollie from Manchester UK Tatze is my pet dog, a black Lab and she's three years old. Tatze means 'paw' in German. Mollie is my fourth Guide Dog puppy, a black Lab who is five months old. It would be lovely if you got in touch with Greg's puppy walker - we are always hungry for news! ...
Welcome June and Greg from Hattie 9 years and our rescue boy Charlie 6 years. Good for you adopting such a special boy. I see you live in Bournemouth so Greg will most probably love going to the beach. Enjoy him xx
Hi, and welcome from Holly and me in Monmouth. Greg has earned a happy retirement, and its a lovely thing you're doing for him. As our Labs got older in body they still remained mentally active. The long walks tailed off, but they always liked a gentle sniffy walk, especially in the countryside. We also found that seek games in the house or garden kept their minds active.
Hi and welcome from me and 3 year old girl, Harley. Well done on giving Greg a home after his years of service. Look forward to hearing more about Greg and your life together
Hi and welcome from me and my kabs Rory and Moo. My friend has a retired guide dog called Annie. She's still kicking up her heals at the age of 14.
