Having seen an appeal , I have registered Sam as a blood donor dog and wondering if anyone else`s dog was a donor and how they found the experience ?
Unfortunately there are no regular venues in our area but if enough owners come forward in the same region, they will organise a session . I think Sam will enjoy the drink and treats afterwards :)

Thanks for the info Kate, have looked it up and there are sessions near us in London. Can't do it yet, as dogs need to be over a year (even though Charlie is waaay over the minimum weight! ::)). Def look into it later though.

Barley is registered as a blood donor aswell, but he has not given blood yet, considering we registered him 2 years ago, it was a bit of a waste really, but something might come up :)

I hear they are really lovely. A couple of my friends do this.
Lilly is under the minimum 25 kg ( um....probably anyway!) And I guess being on anti inflammatory tabs would also exclude her.
Respect to those that do this 8)

    Re: Dog Blood Donor

My Lab was a blood donor. A friend's dog was terminally ill with a blood condition, very anaemic and they asked me if Drift would donate. I didn't really want to do it, but felt I couldn't say no. Drift had to be sedated as he was fairly nervous. Unfortunately the other Lab could not be saved, but we did our bit.

Years ago, my Springer/Collie gave blood and that seemed far easier.

My deep respect to those who do this.

Kate, Sam is such a chilled character, I think he will be a donor with true dignity, if called upon. Xx

Having looked up local collect points last night we might have found one, it is 60 miles away, but it is the closest, it is on the 12th of october so we still have time to register, so we might go to that one, dad was quite happy to drive us there so it looks good so far :)

Hope you can make the session Puppypal , its a long drive but worth while too . There are no sessions anywhere close to us, but the bloodbank said if enough volunteers came forward in an area , they would arrange a session , good luck to you :)
