We have a high value treat!!! Harley loves cheese! Just standard old cheddar, this pup will sell her valuable lab soul for it. She will pay attention, ignore other dogs, suddenly her ears become operational. This stuff is like magic! So this will be her puppy class treat, because at home she will attentive for lesser value treats but I can't tell you how incredible it was to have her focus during class. She completely outshone all the other dogs once we were able to engage her. We were able to show what she is like at home. Only she is a bit of a madam and shows off a little in class. We loved it. We don't expect it to happen again next time, but this will be enough to keep us going for a long time.
Here Harley can be seen sitting and paying attention to DH while her BFF walks not too far away. The exercise had the dogs all sit in or near a hula hoop while one dog from the class zig-zagged in between all the others. Not only did Harley do her circuit with flying colours, she also waited beautifully while others moved around her.
Amazing how a treat does that! Turns them into Crufts champions. Cheese did the same for Snowie at that age.
Yep - cheese. Very unfortunately, it gives Charlie runny poo so I save it for the things he finds the hardest: not hurling himself at people firing shotguns in particular.
