I brought Harley home last weekend, she is 8 weeks old today. Her usual daily routine is up for 1-2 hours, then sleep for 30mins -1 hour. She had her 1st injection last night and when she got home, had her tea then fell asleep not long after. She was asleep for nearly 3 hours which is unusual! She slept from 11.45pm til 7.15am today. Since then she has slept on and off all day. She is usually bouncy and energetic, especially when my hubby comes home, but not today. Please can someone tell me if this is usual after injections. Thank you :-\

Glad Harley seems normally settled,I can't help this early stage or on reaction to injections but dexter from 6-7 months has snoozed the quiet periods of the day away ,I'm not kidding,3 hours at a stretch! X

    Hello there

The vet told me Charlie would be sleepy after his injections, but he wasn't more sleepy than normal - but it was hard to see how he could sleep more than he did at first!

Charlie would only be awake for 30 mins and sleep for hours when he was 8 weeks. He was bright, alert, playful and energetic when he was awake, but slept lots and lots.

    Hi there.
I can't recall Lilly being particularly up or down (but I have a lousy memory).
Certainly kids can be off colour for 24-48 hrs after their immunisations.
I reckon if she's not back to normal tomorrow a word with the vet would be reassuring??
    Hope she picks up :)

I am sure she'll be fine by tomorrow, but if not, as Jac says a word with the vet should give you peace of mind. :)

Thank you everyone. Hopefully she will pick up tomorrow, but if not I will phone the vet. This site has been fantastic to me as I have never had a dog before. Everyone is soooooo helpful, thanks again :)

Hi Pippa, thank you. Harley appears to be much better today and she slept 6 hours last night without waking. Thank you for being so thoughtful. It's great to know there are genuine kind people out there :)

Hi, totally understand where you are coming from, our little pup had his first jab 2 weeks ago and he slept for about 5 hours that day, I was so worried about him and even called the vets twice!!! he was very lethargic and at one point wouldnt even lift his head for food!!!! I was going out of my mind with worry but vet assured me that some pups have worse reactions to others. I felt awful for him!!!! Anyway he then slept all night and by next day he was running around and bouncing around everywhere and back to normal!!! I found the whole thing quite frightening tbh.
