Literally. Enjoying a nice walk today and Simba has a poo and what do I see?? Grape seeds, skins, and whole grapes.

I had cut off all the low-lying grapes from our vine, or so I thought. Must have missed a few - it's hard to see them behind the leaves.

So....here's hoping he's one of those dogs immune to the toxicity that affect some dogs when they eat grapes.... :( He didn't get a whole lot, but ..... :(

Hope he's ok. My old Lab used to eat heaps of grapes off our vine and he was absolutely fine. The grape thing definitely doesn't affect all dogs. Hope Simba is the same.

Oh no! Could the vet give him anything to stop him absorbing any (or any more) toxins?

Well happened ( ;)) to be at the vet's today and mentioned the concern to my vet friend .... Didn't want to text him as I had just texted him yesterday about the cold pill ::)

He felt that if Simba hadn't shown any ill effects by now he should be okay. He's happily chewing on a Kong after a lovely afternoon so I think we're all good.... Phew....iron guts strikes again!!!

Thank goodness for that Lisa, big relief :)

Have to admit that whilst living in France, my four dogs all ate grapes from our vine , this was pre warning days , none ailed at all but I guess its a game of roulette, so pleased Simba is ok :)

Oh gosh,I was scared when I read your post Lisa, glad he's ok x when I was back in the UK my Mums setter stole 3/4 of a genoa fruit cake ( Derry is lovely but a terrible thief)mum knows a fair bit about dogs but she didn't know about the dangers of grapes ....and so of course raisins.....he was really, really poorly for the week I was there, they were terribly worried.when he recovered the joke was that it was a Marks and Spencers fruit cake......if it had been a cheaper brand there might not have been so much fruit in it!Derry is on lockdown for Xmas with the Christmas cake and loud on the premises !x

Oh dear, poor Derry! Glad he's okay now. I am going to be vigilant with the grapes...he didn't get that many so still not sure if he's immune but won't take chances. :)
