I have a 9 week old lab, he's been home a week, we are crate training and toilet training going ok,however during the day he won't sleep unless it's on my feet!! , and I can't move or he wakes!! He will go in his crate but is only quiet while he's occupied with a kong or something then he cries. He is also hard to settle at night, he's ok as long as I'm there. Any suggestions on helping him sleep alone? He has a blanket from the breeder, crate is covered and I leave a night light and radio on!!! I'm worried he doesn't actually get enough sleep?

If he's had enough training, play etc then get on with your day - he will sleep when he's tired. They all prefer to sleep on our feet but can't always! Try putting a t shirt you've slept in in his bed.

Radio is a good idea. You could also try a hot-water bottle wrapped up or a heating disc to snuggle up to. Try not to reinforce the crying by going to him or giving him attention when he does this. Reward a quiet dog with a treat on occasion and give praise for being quiet
