Pongo's perfect fit is the Asda yoghurt cartons (the oblong ones). Just the right size for his nose, with enough leeway for the tongue to whip in and out to reach the bottom; also easy to carry off to his private corner so he can concentrate. Well designed, he says.

Yes same, the dogs get treats at the end for waiting patiently. I better not let them see this thread or else they'll stage a revolt tonight I'm sure!

Mine don't get to lick the plates in the dishwasher. Only when I offer them a plate, and only in the area they get fed, outside the kitchen.

I never let her lick the plates, but I do let her lick the chicken scraps container, and you can't eat a yoghurt without her standing in front of you and staring VERY INTENTLY at the pot (which she always get to lick clean). I also can't open the dishwasher without her charging in to come and lick the cutlery *sigh* I actually had the "don't lick things in the dishwasher" trained...then I got slack, and the rest is history.

Oh yes, and sometimes that's the only wash. The time I made stew in a dog pre-washed only dutch oven I figured the heat killed off any germs the dog had. She sure did a good job on that pot. :) I didn't tell the OH though. Shssssh.

Saba likes to lick the plates once they're in the dishwasher. We don't let him eat from our plates - any treats go in his bowl.:bone:

Harley isn't allowed to lick plates. She does get to lick yoghurt pots, trays from the raw meat when taken out of the wrapping, and the bowl when I make her kongs (it's a bowl that is used just for this). I feel really mean!

I'm ashamed to say I've two pre washers that like to stick their heads in the dishwasher as it's being stacked.

One word of warning though.....beware dangly id tags! Lucan as a youngster once got his caught in the rack! Result... one fully stacked bottom rack being wrenched out of the machine and across the kitchen floor by one very, very panicked dog. Thankfully nothing was broken and it wasn't long before he was back pre washing again, but my dogs have never worn a collar at home since that day.

Ah that reminds me of the time I was prepping a lamb tajine. Daisy (cat) was sitting on the bench watching me (in my defence it's a big kitchen bench). I popped the chopped onion into the cooker, Daisy poked her head in...and sneezed all over the food (onions make cats sneeze, who knew!). I cooked the tajine as usual, but made the mistake of telling OH. He brings it up all.the.time. - "oh, does this have cat sneeze in it hur hur"

There was a family, who had neighbors who often just showed up at their house at dinner time, and sort of invited themselves to the meal. After a few times of this, the family put the dishes down on the floor, let the dog clean them and then put them in the cupboard. Problem solved, no more dinner visits.

Finn always cleans the yoghurt container. His tongue is also enormous for he can reach the bottom of the plastic container (125ml)! The 500ml he also cleans it and then his whole snout goes in with a result that there is yoghurt everywhere...

Coco gets the yoghurt pot too. He loves his "yoggies".

Most morning i have cereal for breakfast and Thor is so tired because i get up early that he just takes himself to the bed in the living room and chills there for 10 minutes before i leave for work. But when i dont have time and i get a yoghurt out you'd think i was presenting him with a freshly cooked steak! He bounces about the living room and stares at me intently until i finish and he can lick the thing clean.
Other than that he doesnt lick the plates but does get leftovers such as steak, beef, lamb if there is any left. We either give it to him in his bowl or use it as treats for training. Last night was steak and ive never seen him throw himself to the floor harder than when i said down and he knew i had steak behind my back! I thought he was going to go through the floor!

Our old marmalade cat Murphy, loved licking out tins, especially tuna tins. Then we re-fitted the cat flap (in our old house...) and put a magnetic one in. Murphy had to wear a special collar in order to get in and out. One day I could hear this frantic banging from the kitchen, I rushed in...to find poor Murph with a tuna tin stuck on his magnetic collar...he was not a happy cat, convinced that he'd been attacked by a tuna tin! :D:eek:
