So I had to share this story because I keep laughing to myself about it.
We are going on holiday soon and arranged to meet a lovely elderly couple through holidays 4 dogs to see if they were happy to have thor while we are away. I'd taken thor for a nice long walk before in the hope he'd been slightly calmer than he is usually when he meets people for the first time.
When we arrived I went out into their garden with the guy so thor could toilet while my partner sat talking to the lady in their living room. Just as I was commenting on how lovely. His garden is and he is telling me about the electric wire they put round the pond because herons keep coming for the fish, thor takes a head first dive bomb into their pond. As he tried to pull himself out he caught himself on the electric fence, shocking himself as he was pulling up. On the second try he pulled the fence down and started bouncing around their garden. The first thing the guy said was 'well, we've never had a dog do that before'.
Now, my partners version of this was that they were sat chatting and he was asking about the fish in the pond as he could see it through their patio doors. She was talking about the electric wire and said don't worry, if thor goes up to it they normally just touch it with their nose then leave it alone. Just as she turned to pick her cup of tea up he saw thor dive bomb in and cause a massive splash.
Thankfully they were really understanding, and we had bought cream cakes which turned out to be apology cakes
I had to share it because it was genuinely like a scene out of Marley and me and has had me chuckling all afternoon.

Wonderful. The pond might be heron proof, but there's no such thing as a Labrador-proof pond!

Its a rite of passage that all dogs visiting here have to be baptised in the fish pond ! Glad that Thor is non the worse for his dip

They asked if we were happy with their set up. I said it was more a question if they were happy with him lol. Little monster!!
He's spent the evening snoozing on his bed, probably dreaming of his new fish friends!

Oh poor Thor hope he's OK.

Hattie had a very strange pond incident about 5 years ago when I stopped to chat to a neighbour in our village who had a flat coat, he asked us in to his garden for a cuppa whilst the dogs played. Hattie leaned over to have a look at the fish in his pond when Amber (flat coat) went behind her and nudged her in. Hattie toppled over and landed head first into the pond, she pulled herself out, she was covered in green slimy stuff, she stank  I had to walk through the village with a dripping, smelly green dog :D x

One of my friends had a Koy pond, and his two labs would not go in it, but Tilly thought it looked like a great idea. It was quite deep with vertical sides, but she managed to get herself back out on her own.

She has also jumped into another friends swimming pool.
