She is absolutely wonderful , and I like how she is very straightforward with the risks instead of telling me what she thinks I may want to hear. Can i ask is there anything more you can tell me , like is there any long term ramifications from these types of surgeries ?

Tears are an excellent release of stress and there's absolutely nothing wrong with being a drama queen sometimes :)

Thank you all , I'm not sure what j would have done if I hadn't have come here to post. We don't have many other doggy mad people in our lives, so they don't really get the worry . Still just waiting on tenderhooks now for the call to say how it went .

Thank you . I am trying to stay positive and not let the fear overwhelm me cos I don't want my son to pick up on it.

Update: vet has called he's awake but in a lot of pain. All his guts are obvs inflamed etc but ultimately the tissue is healthy so no resection was needed , and they were able to manually manipulate it back. (Thank god) She's keeping him in overnight at least , and will see where he is in the morning to whether we can bring him home or they keep him another night . She did make me aware this can happen again so we will need to watch him like a hawk, and once he's recovered they do want to do more tests to see if there is an underlying cause beyond the Giardia and infection, they are considering IBD. TBH I can't seem to think much further than he's okay barring further complications . Again thank you all so much for your well wishes , don't know what I would have done without having this board today.

Aramis is so lucky YOU caught him in time. Sit down, heave a sigh of relief, shed some more tears and congratulate yourself for being so vigilant - you probably saved Aramis's life.

Only just seeing this. Really glad that you caught it so quickly and acted. I do know how you feel.....my girl was in and out of the vets when she was little and had emergency surgery when she was 1. There was nothing we could of done differently. Fingers crossed that he recovers quickly. Big hugs x

Thank you. The vet did say this evening I had pretty much saved his life , bcos of his age and so young he would have gone down so quickly , and I did weep down the phone in relief . Now I just feel like a glass of wine , and bed!
