Normally OH is at home with Merlin but he is out all day today at various meetings, so our very nice cleaning lady is babysitting while I am at work. I know it's all going to be fine, but I am a bit nervous!!! Like a mother leaving her toddler with a childminder the first time... I gave lots of instructions about where he is allowed to be, when/what to feed him, etc...

Oh yes, I was very nervous leaving Luna with my parents the first few times. Even this time when I was back, if I left her, I just had them keep her in the pen unless they could be watching her every move. Their idea of keeping an eye on a puppy is rather different to mine :D

I'm sure little Merlin (come on, what nicknames does he have?) will be absolutely fine.

Merly, Merly-Perly, The Merlster, Little Horror, Bitey Monster (only in the evenings, otherwise he has amazing bite inhibition), Mr Chunkster... :D

I know Irena will take great care of him. She listened carefully to all my detailed instructions, and said 'Yes Karen, I understand. Is like toddler. No problems. Go to work.' :p

I'd be the same as you. I HAVE been the same as you!! And so reassuring when they say: is like toddler.

My mom looked after Snowie for just a few minutes when he was a puppy. Thought he was lying quietly next to her chair. Which he was... while gnawing away at the leg of her antique table!! (She is hard of hearing.) Still, better the table leg getting hurt than him hurting himself - at least that's what I thought!

I'm the same Karen, when Mabel goes to stay with Maura I worry myself silly. I know she is fine, but that doesn't stop me writing a whole A4 list of do's and don'ts. :)

It is difficult to leave them with someone the first time (and everytime after too!), but I'm sure he is being very well cared for x

It's really good for them to be left with other people. You really don't want a puppy with separation anxieties. I have a retired Guide Dog, he's happy to be looked after occasionally by other people.

That's a very good point, actually, hadn't considered that.

Anyway, back home and all is well, of course He's been a good and happy boy, and Poppy was relaxed and cheerful too. And as an added bonus, dear Irena had done all my mending! How she managed that with a puppy is beyond me, it's all I can do to put the rubbish out and hang the laundry up, if I do that much I feel I've accomplished a lot for one day!

That reminds me of when Plum was tiny and I'd go a couple of days without brushing my teeth:eek: and wear my disgusting mud stained tracky bots for days and not find the time to eat! I also haven't had my hair cut since I've had her coz I can't seem to find the time! And she's 8 months! I'm a wreck :D

I just like an excuse to be filthy not comb my hair brush my teeth and do no household stuff. Puppies are a glorious waste of time. They make you realise what's important and what's not.
