Our new Lab pup Angus makes a bee-line for my laptop's charger cable. As it is behind a table I can't get there as quickly as i would like. I try to unplug it whenever he's around but sometimes it only takes a momentary distraction and he's there.

Then I had an inspiration. I wrapped the cable in a cable tidy sleeve. I use these all round the house for tidiness on fixed cable installations. So I got one from the workshop, zipped it on to the cable and BINGO, I have bought myself precious time to get to the rascal and entice him away.

It's not intended as a permanent form of protection. Left to his devices he will be able to chew through the sleeve and get to the cable. But is slows him down considerably. You might want to give it a try.

It's cheap and comes with a special tool to zip it on to one or more cables.

You can get it on Amazon, of course

Before Holly arrived we crawled around the house with our heads at puppy height looking for things that she would find interesting, like cables. We probably looked quite daft but it was worth the effort as we had no problems afterwards.

Mine chewed my cable charger, had to buy a new one! He is now five and beyond chewing! I will remember that handy tip if I ever have a new pup.

A work colleague had a little Yorkie who chewed through a cable and sadly electrocuted herself. Horrible incident and the poor little thing had to be put down. This happened shortly before we brought Homer home so something I was very concerned about as in our living room the laptop cable runs along the floor between wall and table.

We waited watching until the first moment he picked up the cable in his mouth, Hubby told him "no!" Loud and clear. He's never touched the wire again. This is the only time we've used punishment, all his training has been very much positive reinforcement.

Lucky for me I have a very bossy Pomeranian, who thankfully would tell Axel off from chewing anything:rolleyes:. Cables, tables, chairs etc etc. Axel learned within a couple days not to chew any of that stuff. Too bad he didn't get the memo to not chew me:D these scars will fade right???

If they don't you look at them with a smile when you remember long gone dogs.
