We've just spent the weekend camping at Roundhill campsite in the New Forest. It's where a WWII airfield was so it's pretty flat and a lot of the old concrete roads still exist so walking can be as easy or arduous as you like. The airfield was enormous in its day.
The campsite welcomes dogs (maximum 3), they're expected to be on lead in the (enormous) campsite but you're rarely more than a short walk from the forest proper where they must be under control but can run free.
There are poo bins and a dog shower as well as all the usual people things.

Beaulieu is a short drive away with Hatchetts Pond for doggie swimming and Stephs Kitchen in the very nice Garden Centre. Dogs are welcome in the garden centre and at the outside tables in Stephs Kitchen. You have to order inside though so it can be tricky if you're on your own with dogs.

Oh and be slightly careful of the ponies that wander freely through the campsite. They've been fed by foolish people and now they know people have food. They staged a raid on our car when the boot was open and swiped the doughnut my husband was looking forward to having with his cup of tea. They can be quite feisty when there's food around and others turn up like seagulls round dropped chips!!!

Hope your weather has been better than ours this weekend or you will be drying your tent out for the next week!

Camping in a tent with a baby? You're brave Barbara. That's the one thing I can't get my head round, sleeping on the floor under plastic :D x

The only downside is so much stuff required plus a dog crate in my car meant we had to take two cars. We're debating whether a trailer would be useful!!!!!

Or a top box!! Glad you had a lovely time :)

When our children were younger David took them camping every summer holidays, they would fill our car up with food and a one ring hob, go to the beach and have fish and chips whilst I stayed at home. On their departure it would be "oh Mum will you be OK, please come with us we will worry about you" "Oh honestly, I will be fine have a lovely time and don't worry about me" I would walk Hattie, visit friends and go out for lunch, have friends round in the evening or go to bed watch TV and eat rubbish food with Hattie joining me. It was my weekend of pure BLISS!! Now they are all grown up so not many more camping trips :(:( xx

    Enjoy!!

I aspire to own a camper van (a more luxurious one than just a van with a bed - I like my mod-cons :D )
I hanker after the freedom of pottering around the countryside, stopping for dog walks, reading books, eating local food.
Somehow OH never features in my dream........
    Oh well :D

Could it be? Have the ponies infiltrated the Lambie Network??
