so many options......going to use dry food. we pick our lab puppy up in 3 weeks when she is 8 weeks. the breeder is feeding the litter on mince and rice so when we get her we will need to really really slowly swap her onto a dry food of our choice.

i was going to use royal canin labrador puppy, but someone suggested Symply to me today.

money is no object, want her hte best food possible.

    can anyone help?

    Hi

It is complicated all the different foods isn't it ? ???

I feed CSJ command performance. Mainly because that was the food my 2 labs were weaned onto.

It's not a well known brand. They only advertise at country shows, crufts etc. It's a family firm. The food was developed by Ceri Rundle for her own working sheep dogs.

They do a range of foods at different prices. The command performance is the most expensive however not as much as the more commercial premium brands. I was told by a veterinary nurse who had looked into various dog foods that it was as good as if not better than a lot of the premium brands. (she had nothing to do with the firm) They are also very helpful with advice on nutrition and will send samples.

My dogs look good and are doing very well on it . :D

I fed my old lab eukanuba until he was 11 then royal canin sensitivity control as he had colitis. He looked good and did well on those.

I'm not sure if I've helped but have fun with your pup

Hi. I put Harley (9.5 weeks old) on royal canin from the vets and she loves it. The breeder fed her cheap kibble but when we gave her the me one she hardly ate. My neighbour also has a 9 week old lab. They picked him up last week and he has hardly eaten since he has been there. They have tried the same food he was weaned on and since several others to no avail. Tonight I gave them some of Harley's royal canin for sensitive tummies and he ate the whole lot! That says a lot to me.
I would suggest buying a small bag of whatever you choose just to make sure they like it - they certainly let you know if they don't like it!
    Good luck
    Ternaya and Harley

    Ho there lover lab,
I've got Dexter who is a 12 month old yellow boy,our first dog.
He was on eukanuba when he arrived at 5 months...I changed him over into royal canin on a friend and vets recommendation,He's got a really sensitive tummy and had a lot of runny stools so I changed him over onto Royal canin gasto intestinal junior and he was great,he's on the adult dog version now. I Give him a squirt of vitamins and essential oils on his breakfast portion too, this has his coat and nails in great condition,he's just coming to the end of the tube so I'm going to try a product called my Beau,it's the same kind of thing.my friends black lab and working cocker have beautiful coats and she puts it down to that
    Best wishes

Hi there, I don't use dry food but just saying hello, and welcome to the forum. :D Also might be worth saying which part of the world you are in, as brands vary depending on region.

    Welcome loverlab,

We use Skinners working dog (puppy).
This is what the breeder fed her dogs on and we continued with it.
Very happy with it - she's got a lovely shiny coat.
No problems at all and would recommend.

    Good luck!
