How parents cope with the trauma of living with a child with a serious illness like this one, I have no idea.

I think dogs like this are the most amazing thing ever. I hope that Kiki can bring this family some peace

Wow - just wow - ;D and I'm booked on the training with the medical alert dog charity you posted about Pippa - to become a public speaker for them giving talks about their work. I'll keep you posted on my progress...

it's a 4 hour workshop on 28th July, she runs one about every 4 months so my timing is pretty good. I'm still undecided about taking on a puppy but giving talks is something that comes easily to me and I would imagine that they struggle to get volunteers for this that a) don't mind talking in public and b) are any good at it.

I know that if I take on a puppy something will have to give - most likely my PAT work with Barney and Gun Dog training Rusty and quite possibly my sanity...

Re the pup, I think it would be a shame to give up something you do enjoy, to take on something you might enjoy...

I think giving the talks sounds like a lot of fun though. You'll have to let us know how the training goes )
