At the moment im considering stopping Moos insurance. Its 80 quid a month and with her heart murmur is inoperable. She's 14 deaf and partially sighted. The excess is massive and she's really well happy and amazingly active.its a dilemma. It was great for Doug who medically cost about £130 a month at the end of his life.

Yes - when my dogs reach old age and I know for sure I wouldn't put them through an anaesthetic I stop paying insurance and put the money away for vet bills.

With the Cavaliers I stopped paying insurance when they were 13. They lived to 15 but I would not have had them go through an op in their old age anyway so the only costs were normal bills and medication.

Yep that's what I'm thinking might be the best thing to do. I wouldn't want to put her through that kind of thing now.

Thank you for that insight Pippa, "The Puppy Handbook" has already proved its weight in gold so far! And thank you everyone else for your input also, much appreciated.

I am currently on the free insurance that comes with KC registration while I am racking my brain analyzing the different policies; looks like its between KC and Petplan most likely but I am not keen on the 10% variable with KC though it is cheaper. Very hard choice to make!!
