Merlin doesn't wake up every two hours in the night (except when he has diarrhea) He doesn't eat or roll in poo He doesn't bite us He doesn't pull on the lead He doesn't bark at people However - he WILL NOT sleep later than 5:00 am...
Lucky doesn't bark when he's alone, try to lunge at strangers (mostly...), always lunge towards other dogs, chew the rugs or sofas, say hello to non-dog owners on walks, bite me, steal slippers, or run away as often! He does eat human poo, finds it difficult to walk nicely past other dogs sometimes, jumps on people when he's excited, and is still very stubborn.
Bailey does not lick the new baby-much He sits and stares at Ollie-cocking his head one way then the other-which he does when he is confused and trying to figure out just what the heck that is. He is alarmed- to say the least- when Ollie cries but he doesn't lick!
It is a lot easier to say what Cooper does wrong, because she does almost everything right. She wants to be close to us, but does not complain if we leave her alone. She is almost always engaged with us. She is friendly to other dogs and people, and will share food with Tilly, and other dogs for that matter. She seems to understand that small kids and frail older folks need gentle treatment. Her recall is great, even when she is distracted. She does not chew on our stuff anymore. I could say all of the same things about Tilly, though her recall is not as good and she is not quite as engaged. Of course she is 11+ now.
I'm beginning to feel very inadequate here with all these very good dogs. Have been searching my thoughts for something to say about Molly. Still thinking, but she's adorable anyway, never has been that naughty
Harley doesn't : chew any of our things (even though she likes to steal socks and shoes) Wake us up in the night unless she's poorly (and she sleeps in until at least 8am) Run off on a walk
Ha ha - having posted this, Coco has got me up "early" for the past 3 days - poking his nose into my back with a tiny whine - any time between 3:30 & 5:30 - so I have to get up & let him out in case he needs a wee or a poo. This morning, he chased a blackbird!
In that case, I'll keep quiet here about Luna not needing to go out overnight the last couple of nights
This thread is a lovely idea. And I am a proud mommy of a labrador that is very good pup. The things I am most grateful for that Harley doesn't do are: Counter surf Destructively chew Chase or stress the cats Bark in the yard Get into the rubbish bins Gulp her food Jump on the furniture (she is allowed on the bed) Swim in the pool Do her own landscaping Whimper or whine at the door or jump up against the doors and scratch them She really is a good girl.
My lab doesn't counter surf, dig in the garden, get into the bins. He doesn't have separation anxiety. He walks nicely past people (most of the time!). He is good around horses and all types of farm animal. He's a loving, friendly, happy-go-lucky free spirit. He loves life and grabs it by the horns, and makes me laugh every day
LOL! Loving some of the comments! Our Riddick has never pinched things off the washing line, or cruised the counters, or pulled over the dustbin... But he's blind! Puppy Riggs no longer cruises the counters or tries to steal the cat food. Fingers and toes crossed to ward off the jinx!
Mabel doesn't get frightened by pushchairs anymore or run up to every single person on the planet as though they are her long lost friend. She doesn't chew her bed or her toys or dig the garden either anymore.
Slightly different, but....... Lilly doesn't eat any food out of her bowl unless told to "on you go". She will sit there for 10 mins looking mournfully at us if we forget
Molly doesn't run off with dead birds ( or anything else). I've just been looking back at my earliest posts on here when Molly was about 7 months old and it's funny how I've forgotten all those struggles -I'd been thinking she'd always been good! Just last week she found a dead pigeon, brought it to show me and then dropped it when I asked. Today at the recreation ground I threw dummies out in all directions, including over her head behind her and she sat and then fetched them in the order I directed. I'd forgotten my problems with her eating dead seagulls, and the embarrassment of her doing laps of honour with the dummy at our first gundog class. All of you with young dogs - there is hope.
We do that to Vanilla, other week my MIL had to feed her and we forgot to tell her that she has tell Vanilla. I got a phone call saying 'something is wrong she wont eat her dinner'. Doh...but very proud of Vanilla... And Does not counter surf That is it...do not want to jinx anything
