Can anybody recommend a nice very friendly home boarding in Coventry, I have 2 black Labradors 5 & 6 yrs old, sisters, have never left them with anybody before. Looking for somebody who would welcome them into a home atmosphere rather than kennels .
Hi Squirrel, welcome to the forum. Have you seen this thread? https://thelabradorforum.com/threads/puppy-sitting-summer-london.19724/ Not sure if it might be of help. I'm afraid I am North of the border, so can't be of any direct help. jac
Sorry can't offer any advice, but just wanted to say our boy went to a doggy hotel home boarding last year judging by the pictures the woman put on Facebook everyday for us he had an absolute blast being surrounded by dogs every day.
You might be surprised at how well they do in the right kennel. We board both our labs in one run (about 5' x 20') at a gun dog kennel. They have a large fenced acreage (70+) with a good sized pond. 2x per day they take a large group of dogs out and let them run, swim and play. As long as they get along with other dogs and will come back with the group they can go. It is kind of spartan, but our dogs think they have been to camp when they go there. This kennel is not the norm, but I'm sure there are more like it.
@Squirrel Hi, l would recommend my dog walker who also does home boarding, she only takes in a couple of dogs at a time, and has her own Labrador too. She's in Nuneaton which shouldn't be too far for you, website is https://www.fourpawsnuneaton.co.uk
I have been given one name so far of home boarding in Nuneaton, can anybody recommend home boarding for dogs in a more rural setting in the Warwickshire area.
Thank you for the replies I am receiving. Has anybody used The Grove Luxury Dog Boarding in Staffordshire, looks more like hotel for dogs rather than kennels.
Mine normally travel with me. In August, we're going away and at least the two older ones won't be able to come. So we're having a friend come stay in our house in Spain to look after them here. We're lucky that our land is big enough that he won't have to take them out for "walks" as such. No-one walks my dogs but me! I'm far too paranoid
My adult son looks after Molly while we're away. Years ago my parents used to look after previous dogs. Oh, I did once have a house/ dog sitter, a friend's daughter.
My dog stays with my sister-in-law. We reciprocate with her lab when she goes on holiday. We just co-ordinate things and don't go away at the same time.
My dog (now passed) traveled everywhere with me. If he wasn't welcome, we didn't go. But he was also a service dog, so it made traveling with him slightly easier. When I had my first dog, years ago, I also had a job where I had to travel pretty regularly. I used a kennel and he loved it. He would pull on the way in and on the way out he had to say goodbye to everyone personally. They loved him and I could tell he was well cared for. I wouldn't be so keen to do that again now, but at the time it was a great solution.
I know of two kennels in that area - Merriroyles boarding kennels and the Hayfields Luxury Dog Hotel (!). I've not used either as both were fully booked when I tried them, but both look good.
