...for the consequences to appear from Simba's acquisition of a whole can of bacon grease while I was out this afternoon. I honestly checked everywhere to make sure there was nothing he could get.....how did I miss that???? Found the can on the floor by the door when I got in....it was nearly full of the congealed grease (we put it in a can instead of dumping it down the drain and then throw the can out) and was absolutely shiny and clean. Not to mention there was not one bit of grease on the floor anywhere from there to the kitchen..... I have not fed him supper, needless to say. Had a few dry heaves but nothing "productive" yet....he's lying next to me, odd sounds issuing from his stomach.....bet that nothing will happen until 2 AM or so....hubby's gone to Walmart to get more carpet cleaner as we used it all up on the last "episode"..... :
Re: Can't wait... Oh dear... If he starts actually vomiting, shows signs of serious discomfort or loses his appetite take him to the vet. A very large, fatty meal can give the pancreas a hard time (i.e. can cause inflammation, which is very painful). He is a young dog though, so that is in his favour. Hopefully he will be just fine (and so will your carpet).
Re: Can't wait... Oh lord!! We do something similar with fat from cooking, mental note to put it right at the back of the worktop!!! Hope he's alright!!
Re: Can't wait... That doesnt sound good. We had a vomiting episode last night, so I can sympathise. We have wooden floors though - the carpets became health hazards and had to go...
Re: Can't wait... Blimey everyone was sick last night,I've just updated a post!sorry for all the poorly doggies Poppy x Simba that is your CHAMPION Purloin to date....stick with the knitting lad,the consequences will be less dire....hope he hasn't made himself too ill Lisa,he must feel grim bless him. Think you should have sent Hubby to the Army Surplus Store.....it's going to be nuclear when he performs the can contents reappearance... Good luck, let us know he is ok......I think Simba has a pretty strong constitution though hasn't he?a sniff of that can would have finished my boy off! X
Re: Can't wait... Well, amazingly enough, all is well! No eruptions....not in the house, anyways. He was "urping" a bit in the evening and looking a bit green around the gills, and actually wanted to go outside, for a change. He was out for awhile but came in pretty bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Slept all night, seems fine today. I wonder if he up-chucked out in the yard - didn't have a chance to have a look. So I think he's okay, thanks for all the well wishes!! Thanks also for the tip, Rachel, I'll keep it in mind for the next time.... :
