So lately my 7 month old has been picking up her water bowl when I am not around. all the water dumps out and she starts to play with the bowl. There are plenty of toys for her to play with but for some reason thinks this is a better option. (maybe she thinks my floor needs to be cleaned?) She has done this at the dog park before but not at the house up until this past week or so. Any tips on how to stop this?

Get one of the S.S. bowls with a double wall on the sides. Outside slopes outward towards the bottom and the inside slopes inward. They are very stable and most dogs can't get hold of it to pick it up.

You can buy non spill travel bowls too... dogs need to press the top down for the water they pick it up easily. LOL Just realised that was the wrong thong to say! They catch on to the technique easily!

You need to stop her doing it at the dog park because it seems that she thinks water bowls are toys. Or maybe she does think your floors need washing ;)

My childish brain tittered at 'wrong thong':D

Our dog bowls are ceramic and too heavy for the dogs to pick up. I did look after a pup who would dig the water out. It was summer so I put his dish outside, his Mum told me he grew out of it.

I got Rory a big outside bowl the size of a small pond. He loves digging the water out so much. He does it after a hot walk or on a hot daytime and only with this outside Rory pond . He also loves to stick his nose in it up to his eyes and suck all the water in his mouth. He never does it in the inside bowls and it's just a bit if fun for him.
