I really want to apologize for the title of this thread--I just couldn't think of a clearer way to put it

We've recently adopted Honey, a 2-year-old rescue Lab. She didn't eat well at all for the first week or two with us (we've had her almost four weeks now and she is eating like a Lab :D), and her poo has been runny since she came home. We've taken samples to the vet, and they've been clear each time, but I'm wondering if there's anything we can do to help change the consistency as it seems uncomfortable. The vet said it was likely due to stress and food changes and didn't see it as a problem.

Any thoughts? (and if your thoughts are "You're overthinking this" that's ok too :D)

When my pup had this trouble I gave her something called Protexin, fibre pellets. I got a tub online from VioVet. I put a level spoon on each morning meal for a few weeks, it tells you how much to add. I think it really helped firm things up. When she had a couple of really unpleasant stomach upsets I gave her pro kolin (from same place) a substance administered straight into their mouths via a syringe type implement over a few days. It was easy to administer because she liked the taste. Have a look online and see what you think.

    Good luck!

My boy was always getting the runs at one time , I made a point of keeping a tube of pro kolin in the fridge at all times , magic stuff !

Pro kolin is great. Both my dogs love the taste. Really settles down a doggy tummy :).

Hi @momofone just wondering how many meals a day he is on? I know it is more for puppies but one large meal a day is much more likely to cause runny poop than 3 smaller meals a day. Spreading food out can help.
Also are you using any treats and extras that could be causing a problem?

She gets two meals a day, the one in the morning slightly larger than the one in the evening. Maybe we need to spread it out a bit more. We do use treats, but since she was having this issue already I'm not sure if they're making it worse. I think I might just do cooked chicken as treats for a few days and see if that makes a difference.

I've tried to find Pro Kolin here (in the US) but am having no luck. I wonder if it might have a different name here?

Do you know what she was fed on before?
It might indeed just take time for her to settle but keeping things simple is a good idea to start with. No dramatic change in food. No dramatic changes in routine. Keeping things calm and settled etc.
I think canned pumpkin seems to be popular in the US for adding fibre. Non sweetened of course. Pro kolin is a mixture of jail in and lactate if that helps .
Marvel might be an alternative - just contains kaolin.
You can get prokolin from Amazon. Is this available on th US side of the pond?

We know that when she was in the shelter she was fed whatever they gave her, which varies depending upon what's been donated. We tried both of the foods they knew she had had, and she outright refused the first and ate the second sparingly. She really seems to like her current food, a chicken and rice blend. I have some canned pumpkin, not the sweetened kind, so I will try adding that.

I found it on Amazon for the UK, but it isn't available here.
