its been 15 years since we last had a lab puppy, i cant remember for how many weeks we gave our puppy dry food that had been soaked? thanks
Re: puppy on dry food (how long do they require it wet? Hi there, if you give your puppy commercial kibble designed for puppies it does not need soaking at all. Just feed it dry. The puppy will enjoy crunching it and exercising his jaws in the process. Pippa
Re: puppy on dry food (how long do they require it wet? ok thanks, yes using royal cainn labrador puppy food. breeder curently has the litter on mince and rice, so need to slowly mean her onto the dry food! :-\
Re: puppy on dry food (how long do they require it wet? OK, well you can either just mix a few nuggets of kibble in with her mince and rice, and gradually increase. Or you can soak the kibble in order to mix it in with the mince more easily, but I would try and see if she will eat them as they are first. They are very palatable and most pups will eat them as they come unless they are used to having them soaked. The important thing is to give very small quantities of the new food to begin with, which will help to reduce the risk of upset tums. Pippa
Re: puppy on dry food (how long do they require it wet? thanks pippa most helpful. do you have working labs? think your lab has a dummy in their mouth? i used to work labs with my nan and dad when i was a lot younger. i did working trials and a few field trials
Re: puppy on dry food (how long do they require it wet? My Lab Sam was on kibble at the breeders , I decided to change the brand as the food he was being given was very high protein content and I prefer a lower one for large dog pups so that growth isnt too rapid . Sam just ate the dried kibble as it was, never any problems , I do add bits and bobs to his feed, mainly raw meat , fish or leftover veggies, but if you do this, remember to reduce the ammount of kibble
Re: puppy on dry food (how long do they require it wet? Yes, my dogs are all workers, two labs, two cockers You must be looking forward so much to getting your hands on this new puppy! Look forward to seeing some pics
