Hi all, Today, my Alex was having a nap, when he started yapping in his sleep. I watched him from across the room when all of a sudden, he barked, shot up and jumped of the sofa. It all happened so fast! I ran towards him, and he was still disoriented from sleep, but then he became alert and all was fine again. Thankfully our sofas are quite low (Chesterfields) and we have a carpeted floor, so I'm not concerned about the jump. Alex is 10 weeks old today, he's eating very well, sleeps well and is almost 100% toilet trained (minus the very occasional peeing when he's playful) We have a bell on the door for him to ring when he needs to go outside and do his business, and he took this up so quickly! He does twitch in his sleep sometimes, and whines sometimes, but this is the first time he has actually jumped and ran. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this with their pups? Will it pass, and is this just an odd occasional thing? Or is it something that might need treatment? Also, I have noticed the occasional cough when he's sleeping, and sneezing. He doesn't do this when awake (except for one time when I put a little aromatherapy oil on myself and he sneezed) We tend to stay away from chemical cleaners and use only natural products for Alex and ourselves. I'm wondering if he maybe had something stuck in his throat? We had a look in his mouth and couldn't see anything, so I gave him a little coconut oil just in case his throat was a little irritated. Alex's eyes are still watering, despite giving him his eye drops and wiping them with teabags. I think he may need surgery if they don't improve as his eyelashes are still touching his eyes, but strangely some days they are not. We won't be covered with our insurance for this, as we were given free insurance for one of his siblings instead and there was a big mix up. So just last week I've had to take out a policy with Animal Friends insurance. We opted for superior life cover insurance, but as he has had eye drops from the vets, I don't think that the insurance will cover any problems with his eyes anymore? Alex is currently eating Eukanuba Puppy Large Breed food, as this is what the breeder had him on. We are slowly making a switch to Carnilove Puppy, as I am concerned that the Eukanuba has far too much grain in it and perhaps this is causing allergies? He does poop quite a lot, sometimes five times a day! But has only had one watery bowel movement and they are usually firm and formed. This is the first time we have owned a puppy, and he is an absolute darling, but I worry for him so much like I do with my kids. I checked Alex's weight today, and he is 6.6 kg, is this good for a 10 week old male? He looks healthy and is quite muscular for a puppy, but you can see his last two ribs. Since we picked him up at 8 weeks, we have always been able to see these last two ribs. The vet said that he is going to be a big lad, and we have another appointment on Monday for another vaccination so I'm sure the vet will tell us what he thinks then.
