As some of you know, Harley has become a bit snappy with some dogs since she was attacked. Last night at agility there was a new dog at our session. Harley usually gives new dogs a growl and won't interact well so I usually stay far enough away for her to relax. It usually takes a few weeks of them being there until she is ok with them. Last night it was horrendous rain and the shelter is only small. I decided to give it a try being in the shelter with the new dog and the others that we know. They had a sniff of each other, then Harley dropped her ball right in front of the new dog . There was no aggression at all . I was so chuffed with her. She was on fire at agility too! Today we had a fantastic walk. We bumped into a few of her doggy friends and they had a lovely play. As we were heading back to the car, a dog ran full pelt around a corner and straight up to Harleys face. I took a step forward and told Harley to wait which she did. They had a quick sniff then I put her lead on her and off we went . Usually Harley would react at a dog running full pelt towards her. I was so so happy that she didn't do snything and that her body language stayed relaxed throughout. I have been periodically putting her lead on during walks so as not to just do it when we see new dogs. She is now fine with this and walks on a flat collar without pulling me along which is another huge achievement. Happy and proud mum
What a good, brave girl!!! She is so lovely and she is a very red (better conformation) but very similar to my Harley. That tongue is spectacular! Thanks for sharing such a positive story.
What a great girl you are Harley and well done @Naya for getting her through a rough patch Very impressive tongue and ball action there xx
