Our year old lab has bloodshot eyes...He has no runny gunk from his eyes or anything indicating conjunctivitis (he has had that before). He does spend as much time as possible on our walks in local ponds and creek, and spent several hours in a swimming pool the other day. Is this normal? Thanks
When you say 'bloodshot' do you mean the white part of his eye appears to be pink or much pinker/redder than normal? Can you actually see blood vessels or is the colour reasonably uniform? If you gently pull down his lower eyelid a tiny bit (don't force it and use treats to reward him) would you say the inner membrane is pale pink, medium pink, or reddish? Allergies or just an irritation from pollen or things in the air can cause eyes to appear red. It's something you'd need to see the vet about.
