Yesterday, Red had a horrible bout of diarrhoea. After all the problems she had at 3 - 5 months with diarrhoea, I was hoping it was just a one off. This morning, she had the worst diarrhoea ever - she even frightened herself the way it exploded out of her. Bless her that she managed to wait until outside. She has also demolished her large cushion in the night, so I came down to her crate full of stuffing! However, not bothered about the cushion but am bothered about the diarrhoea. I really hate this when it happens to her. I have given her pro kolin and her breakfast as she was hungry. She is to be weighed at the Vets this afternoon so I shall mention it.
Poor Red -and poor you. You have had a difficult time with her tummy troubles haven't you. Just to give you some hope - Molly went through a period during her first year of getting repeated stomach bugs (leading to vomiting rather than diarrhoea) so that I felt I was constantly at the vets. However she grew out of it, so fingers crossed that Red's digestive upsets will also end as she grows up.
Thank you @Joy for your kind words. DH took her for usual walk and he said she had more diarrhoea. She is now flat out. As Molly had repeated stomach bugs you will know how I am feeling. It really upsets me. I hope she does grow out of it.
We spent a small fortune on pro kolin when lola was a pup! She still has a bit of a delicate stomach but as long as she doesn't have certain foods she is fine. My father in law likes to tell me how "dogs are scavengers, they can eat anything!". Not my dog. She doesn't get any leftovers or treats I haven't approved! My other half ounce gave her a rawhide and I ended up staying awake all night with her and a new born as she vomited EVERYWHERE! Fingers crossed Red will grow out of it or at least develop a slightly stronger stomach
Took Red to be weighed and mentioned the diarrhoea - she went and consulted vet. Said to just give her I/d (no kibble) little and often and continue the pro kolin and if continues see vet tomorrow. She has just had horrendous diarrhoea so looks like we will be actually seeing the vet tomorrow. I absolutely hate this.
Thank you @edzbird for asking. I took her to see the vet yesterday as she had explosive diarrhoea again at 2:00 yesterday morning. Bless her she is a quiet thing but she let us know she needed to go outside. Vet checked her temperature and felt her tummy - both ok. Said to keep on i/d and pro kolin. Usual instructions if didn't improve and a sample pot. Today she is lots better so am reintroducing the kibble. What I didn't know is that you can continue pro Kolin beyond 3 days. Vet said they say that only use for 3 days so you go and visit the vet. I would have taken her anyway but useful to now it can be used for longer.
