We have about 60/40 carpet to not. As much as it killed me my wife put the baby gate across the access to the carpeted areas because of the hair. She vacuums the wood and tile daily. She uses the Irobot on the carpet every second day and by supper it looks dirty. We just accept it now...I really miss his cold nose waking me up for the morning wee but he's fine with it.
Jen - I'm in the same boat...except OH will NOT wash up either! Oh no, put them in the dishwasher - NO!!!!! Not everything can go in the dishwasher. The only hoovering he does if after I've cut his hair. He always puts me in mind of the Alesha Dixon tune "The Boy Does Nothing" - but for some unknown reason, I love him anyway This has nothing to do with hoovering - I was out in the rain one day, up to my shoulder, unblocking the drains. Out comes OH and he says "what are you doing?" "I'm unblocking the drains" I replied, calmly (isn't it obvious?). "Oh, do you want me to watch?" says he?
Mine does unnecessary things that don't need doing. Today he's decided that we simply cannot function any longer without a pull down loft ladder. So off he's trotted to B&Q. There's a million and one more important things he could be doing. But I guess if it keeps him happy..
Until recently I had a VAX Pet Air 3- great until I got a dog! We now have a refurbished Dyson D50. Its good. However we have to empty it every other day! I have just bid on a Dyson Dog Groomer tool on ebay to hoover cody!
I confess that I am the luckiest woman alive.... OH not only does the hoovering, he is also in sole charge of kitchen (occasionally I am invited to help peel spuds or allowed to wash up) AND I get a cup of tea in bed every morning except his birthday. And no, he is not for sale. Of course, I do have to put up with bad jokes and an obsession with national hunt racing.

I'm looking for a small, powerful hand-held hoover, just to hoover his bed and vetbed fleeces. Battery or mains, it doesn't matter. About 30-40cm long (or just over a foot for those still using body parts as measurement units ) I read some reviews about Dyson DC58, but people say the battery starts to die out after a few months use. Recommendations welcome
