So today was the day that the very brave @Bensons-dad took Benson to gundog training, whilst I handled Bramble. It was a real challenge for my OH as Benson is MY dog, and being in Group 3, SWMBO decided to kick off with one of the test scenarios from the day before. OK.....

So here we go. First exercise.. long marked retrieve, followed by a short blind. Second exercise was marking a retreive, but sending your dog first for a blind, THEN the long retrieve.

On the first exercise, Benson went out nicely, went off to say "hello" to SWMBO, growled at a blue barrel, the bounced kangeroo fashion (with dummy) back to OH. He got there in the end! He did struggle a bit with the blind, but that's OK :)

So then followed an exercise with sending the dog back from a facing forward position. The helper throws the dummy (behind the dog) whilst the dog waits for the cue to send back, left or right shoulder. Well, this was the hysterical bit. Benson just couldn't wait! So it was a frantic race to see who would get to the dummy first..the helper or Benson. Oh did I mention the obstacle???:D:D. So, picture the scene...the helper...would "brrrrrrr!" then throw the dummy....which at that point was just TOOOOO exciting for Benson...who would whip round launch across the ditch...race to the dummy..sigh..In order to prevent self rewarding, the helper would also race to retrieve the dummy.

So when we got home, it was time for a little practice...:)

Thank you :)...listening to the video you can't actually hear OH's verbal cue over the din of all the cockerels kicking off! :D
