Hi everyone!! I'm forever posting on the puppy section of the site as we've just gotten a new pup, but of late I've noticed our gorgeous ten year old black lab, Fudge, has some black ish, what can only be described as 'splodges' on both of her irises. She has very light eyes so they're easily noticeable. They have only come recently and she appears to be in great health for her age, someone thought she was a puppy the other day, she's in amazing condition!! I was just wondering if anyone had had a similar experience with their older labs and if it's something I should be worried about?

    Hi Lfm.
A quick google suggests this COULD just be part of the ageing process, but could also be a sign of visual problems such as glaucoma.

Odd black areas on the eye could also be more sinister.
The best advice is to get a vet check to get a definite diagnosis and put your mind at rest.

I'd get the vet to check it out. My spaniel has just had a sequestrum in his eye which was a black spot. His eye was very closed to start with so I doubt it's that but best be absolutely sure. Best of luck!

Thank you so much! Will definitely get it checked just to be on the safe side!
