My sister has a golden doodle, he is a lovely-natured dog just HUGE, and his coat needs a tremendous amount of maintenance, far more than my two.

It seems the golden doodle requires much more grooming than the Labradoodle. Hattie gets groomed once a week, same as Charlie :) x

I think you are right. Bailey has a shaggy overcoat, with a wooly undercoat which quickly turns to dreadlocks if not constantly groomed. Also, he's white and they live on the river so he is always wet and muddy, and he takes ages to dry... I love him, but I wouldn't want to deal with his fur!!

With the longer coat of a GR and the curly coat of a Poodle that's the high maintenance coat you will get. When Hattie gets soaked on a rainy walk I towel dry her but she is still drying out hours later. Oh the mud on a white curly dog  that's why I chose black! :D x

The Goldendoodles and Labradoodles here that are bred with Standard Poodles are large dogs - much taller than a Golden Retriever or Lab. It depends on the poodle - mini goldendoodles are popular here, which are bred with miniature poodles and golden retrievers are they are typically about as tall as a retriever and slightly leaner. I would say in my area, 7/10 dogs are poodle mixes.

Quinn's BFF at the park is a Labradoodle and he is huge - her head is about at his shoulder (She is petite, but not tiny). He is lean and tall (more like a Standard Poodle). His littermate is shorter and heavier, slightly slightly more lab than poodle in comparison.

Not sure this helps! Likely best to ask about previous litters!

Standard Poodle crosses are usually a bit bigger than Golden Retrievers and definitely bigger than Labradors. But I wouldn't say they're 'huge'.

Do you know if the poodle involved was a Standard (ie the largest variety) Poodle?

He lives next door to my mum and he is a large standard poodle cross gr. He has almost white fur which is straight and long and is taller than a standard poodle and gr. He is also is chunky like a gr. The other really large gr and sp cross is taller than a sp but not chunky. His head is level with his owners shoulder she is small but he leaps around like a crazy sheep. By anyone's estimation they are big dogs and i have seen a few who match them in size.what would you consider huge then?

    Newfoundland, Pyrenean, Wolfhound, Dane....

The Standard Poodle crosses can be big dogs for sure. Standard Poodles are big dogs. But for my money not in the huge category. It's all relative!
