Good Morning.Have made enquiries and little Dawson starts lessons on Sept 4th at Witham Spring Lodge Community Centre. I am hoping that the training includes washing up and hoovering!!!
Great news @Dave Bennett Some people find the first lot of classes very difficult - so don't worry if they feel like mostly damage control in the first few weeks or even months - though you sound like the sort of person who will take all this in your stride
I expect it to be challenging.After all it's a little dog being taught certain aspects of behaviour.That said it will be fun and we might make friends as well!!!!
Oh have fun! Well try too.... I have two very different experiences with puppy classes. The classes with Bramble were calm, quiet and really fun. Mostly working on lifestyle behaviours in a well structured and pleasant environment.
Most people attending their first classes with a Labrador end up feeling embarrassed, crushed and humiliated as every other puppy behaves angelically while their Labradorean monster flings itself around the room on the lead like a horizontal bungee. So when that happens, don't worry, don't feel bad - it's normal
Rory had to attend his first pup class when he was nearly 6months old due to illness. He was huge and the rest were lab pups and all boys. They all used to play with him which he loved. But the most amusing thing was him lying on his back while they all licked his willy. He loved training class

Good luck and try to enjoy it's! I found a puppy Kong and rubbed tiny bits of cheese in it constantly kept Harley occupied whilst the trainer was talking. Gave me more time to actually listen. The other puppies and owners stayed far away from me and another lady with a Rottweiler. We didn't mind though, our pups got on
I have just tried to make my two younger boys read this without laughing.They were all right up until the last but one sentence then fell about the room laughing their heads off!!!
I enjoyed pup classes, mostly, because, despite having a boisterous, bouncy lab, it was so good to get out of the house and do something with my pup, rather than feeling confined to barracks and going stir crazy! But I wish I had realised it was all a work in progress rather than expecting 'results' from the off. I'd quite like to do them all over again now I have a calmer 11 month old who has learnt a few things but could still do with some tweaks and fiddles. Enjoy!
