My girl Enya turned 13 weeks today...but what a day it has turned out to be. She did not sleep the entire night yesterday and was hacking and coughing away. She was so miserable that it broke my heart:(
Sure enough, the Vet diagnosed it as Kennel Cough and put her on a 10 day course of antibiotics. She just started going to puppy classes and boom we are back to staying away from other puppies...

My question to all of you amazing people out there, can you give me your recommendations for probiotic supplements and foods that I can give my baby to replace all the good bacteria that will be killed by the antibiotics. She is so young and her immune system is so immature that I want to build her immunity naturally. I eat a lot of yogurt (unsweetened kind) so I will give her some.

    Thank you!

Gosh, how unlucky, that's rough for little Enya, I'm sure you'll nurse her through though.

Another advocate for honey here, plus natural live yoghurt , mine will take both of a spoon , but if not, mix it in with their food . Poor little love, hope she feels better soon x

Thank you all for your wishes! She is still coughing away and the antibiotics are making her very tired and cranky!

Oh no! It's so awful to listen to them hacking away. Our pup got it at exactly the same age. Vet prescribed probiotics for us (along with the antibiotics). I forget what they're called, but will check for you when I get home.

If she gets into a real coughing fit, try standing with her in the bathroom (in your arms, because steam rises!) with a HOT shower on for 15 minutes or so. This seemed to calm George down, for half an hour or so.... Good luck.... !
