My vet has decided to swap from Bravecto to Simparica for flea and tick treatment. Simparica is given once a month rather than every 3 months like Bravecto. Although Ripple has never had a bad reaction to Bravecto I have always been wary of it due to a lot of internet comments about problems with dogs who have been given this. I know several people on the forum use Bravecto so I was wondering if anyone used Simparica or had any thoughts on this?

I hadn't heard of this one @SteffiS , so thanks for mentioning it . Both of ours have Bravecto , with no ill effects , but I have also read about adverse effects, which worries me greatly . Thanks again , will have a chat with our Vet when they are next due x

This study compares Simparica to NexGard (both 1 month treatments but with different active ingredients) and the Simparica comes up looking like the better option: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26896456

After researching Bravecto vs NexGard I had decided on NexGard (eg it's faster acting) so that's what we use. But the Simparica looks like a further improvement. Not sure if it's approved for use in Australia yet though.

Thank you @Oberon that sounds a bit more hopeful.
