breeding programme yes or no

    ok. another question with probably 100 different answers. what age for castration?

    You are right about the 100 different answers :) That's a good one to speak with your vet about.

    If there are no laws in your area or other restrictions (eg daycare places that won't take entire dogs after 6 months) then it's entirely your decision. As yet there is no good quality evidence either for or against desexing a male at any particular age (eg in terms of health impacts). Most people would try to wait till at least 6 months and some wait till after 1 year to make sure the dog has finished its major growth phase. Some entire males start to become very keen on running off to seek out receptive ladies but many (probably most) do not...you'd need to wait to find out what your dog is like.

    Do you have a secure, well fenced yard that will keep your dog at home?

    yes 6ft fence around large back garden

    Don't do it unless you have a problem with over sexualised behaviour...or the laws of where you live mean you have to. I have had 2 dogs...one died age 13 intact..Current dog was 9 when his behaviour changed as we got a bitch....wait and see maybe and speak with your vet
